welcome, sweet sophia gianna funari

as most of you know, i HATE pregnancy! pregnancy&tanya just don't go well together but somehow i've managed to do it twice so far! i prayed that i would enjoy pregnancy just a little this time and after the nausea of the first trimester i thought i was golden but then all my back pain set in quickly there after. for those who saw me towards the end...my belly was HUGE! well it was no surprise why when i pushed out a 9.6 pound baby! ha!

my due date was expected to be on april 27th but little miss sophia decided she was going to make a late arrival. so, this mama took it into her own hands and scheduled an induction for april 30th which was the first available date. as much as i enjoyed all the little kicks and rumbling around inside, i was happy to get her out!

i went into emmc on april 30th at 11am. at this point jim's parents had come up from pennsylvania to welcome the arrival of their new granddaughter but his father had to head back the day before i was induced to be back at work but his amazing mom was able to stay the week. by the time i was all settled in it was 12pm and in went the iv and hello pitocin. after two hours of being at 4 cm and no change and strong contractions, i started to become discouraged. per my request, i did not want an epidural but at this point my back pain was increasing and contractions were very close and very strong. i had my amazing nurse, yes, i prayed for an amazing nurse and i thank god for her, to check where i was at. at this point, i was at 6 cm and i decided to forgo the epi. about 30 mins later i was at 7.5 cm. things were finally moving along. about 15 mins later i asked jim to page the nurse as i felt i needed to push. at this point i was at 9 cm and she quickly called dr. rinaldi. not soon after, i was pushing as my dr was walking in the room. i can't even describe what i was feeling at this point but pain and exhaustion. i couldn't believe how quickly things were happening and how i felt every part of it. with bella i had the epidural because of the amount of time i was in labor so, i didn't experience truly how it all felt. after 10 minutes of pushing, little miss sophia entered the world.
as they placed her on me, she was gray and not crying. i guess the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck. i was a bit delirious at this point and just prayed everything would be ok. seconds later she cried. she was quite bruised as well from me pushing her out so fast. dr. rinaldi described it as shooting a bullet from a gun! my poor girl! i told everyone i wanted her out!
i thank god for giving me the strength and such a wonderful experience this time around. i prayed and prayed for it and he answered all my prayers. i adore my little family and i couldn't be happier <3      *blessed*
